HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WESTERN BHUTAN TOUR

Visit the Himalayan Utopia or simply ‘Shangrila’ over 7-days. The journey takes you across the major western districts of Paro, Thimphu and Punakha. The tour kicks off from Paro, where you will visit Rinpung Dzong, part district administration and part monastic body, you will notice the modern and the ancient fused together. In Thimphu, take a short walk through the Takin Preserve, learn about our national animal and the legends of its creation by the ‘Divine Madman’. Stroll through craft bazaar, see the authentic handicrafts mainly sourced from rural areas to support Bhutanese art.

Warmer than Thimphu and Paro, in Punakha you will notice the swathes of rice fields depending on the time of the year;visit the majestic Punakha Dzong.

WESTERN BHUTAN TOUR DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Paro

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by your tour guide and driver who will accompany throughout your trip in Bhutan. You will proceed to see local sights and then drive to Thimphu and check in to the hotel.

Day 2: Thimphu sightseeing

After breakfast, you will visit Buddha’s statue, one of the famous landmarks in Thimphu, Memorial Chorten and few other sights. Lunch will be served in the Folk Heritage Museum Restaurant and later stroll around Centenary Farmers Market.

Day 3: Tango Monastery Hike

After having your breakfast, head out north and hike to Tango Buddhist College and have a packed lunch by the Thimphu river.

Day 4: Transfer to Punakha

Along the way, stop at Dochula Pass (3100 m) and Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to Drukpa Kuenley, famously known as the ‘Diving Madman’.

Day 5: Transfer to Paro

Day 6: Hike to Tiger’s Nest
